Hi Guys. I just wanted to show you my iPhone game that I made. I built the engine from scratch over the summer and dropped this game on top of it. Lua content pipeline for the win, etc. Kiyome Provost (DigiPen Art Grad) did all of the art for it.

Tips to future iPhone developers: Objective-C is really slow. Don't use it for anything other than interfacing with the phone. Use the C++ end of Objective-C++ wherever possible.
If you guys wanna ask any other questions about developing for the iPhone, please feel free. I'd love to talk about it. |

| I has Series 2 |
[Dec. 31st, 2009|01:09 pm] |
Hi, I'm new here.
I was lucky enough to get for free a Series 2 Tivo with lifetime service. I'm not a big TV watcher but I'd like to record a few shows and watch them. So far I've hooked up an HD converter box and it works fairly well so far on free broadcast HDTV.
In the future I am going to swap out the hard drive for a MUCH larger one (250gb). But in the mean time I thought I could move a few shows over to my computer using Tivo desktop to save some space but it seems my media player (Media Player Classic) can't view .Tivo files. I don't want to have to go to the trouble of having to bring them back to Tivo just to watch them. The Tivo and the computer are hooked up to the same HDTV/monitor.
I did some research and found out that there is a program called tivodecoder but I can't even seem to be able to download it and unwrap what looks like a linux tarball thingy. I guess I'm just not egghead enough to jump through all the hoops to get a program like this going. I also tried WinTivoDecode but it needs to have that first program tivodecoder installed that I can't even figure out how to extract properly (I did open it up once but I couldn't even find an executable file in the maze of junk in the folders).
Does anyone know of a simple windows GUI that I can download that isn't all zipped up in some weird format that normal people aren't familiar with and I can just execute it and get it going? Network stuff is easy, but this gobbly-gook is far beyond me and has me frustrated to no end.
I do'nt want to burn DVD's. I just want to store some programs in a format I can watch them on my computer (like divx or something MPEGish) Why is this such a black art? Am I the only person with an IQ under 752 that wants to do this? |

| My thoughts on AVATAR- yours? |
[Dec. 26th, 2009|11:55 pm] |
I heard bad things about AVATAR. Mind you- I only heard them weeks ago- Im not one of that group of people that had been following its progress for years. I hadn't even heard of it until a month ago.
I heard good, I heard bad, but even the bad reviews mentioned how great it was visually- so off I went- one last Christmas present to myself. ( Read more... ) |
